Dunes
Posted On April 20, 2021
I turn over, and my eyes widen at the dunes that lie before me.
Rolling curves of golden sand, dusted with freckles that hint of a life before me. A life before you.
I fight the urge to hold those grains in my hand, feel their warmth and their weight. All I want is to bury myself in the scenery.
You will never know how fast I yearned to move that day. How I ached to sprint to the apex and look back on where I started.
The dunes begin to shift, crumble around me. They do not suffocate, or drown, or crush. Instead, they mold to the shape I am in, and they hold me tight.
